- The Sporkful has been featured by NPR, Slate, New York and Southern California
Public Radio, and The Food Network, among others. We spent much of our first year in existence as the #1 food podcast on iTunes, and iTunes selected us as one
of the Best New Podcasts of 2010. The show has been downloaded in all 50 U.S. states and over 100 countries. We look forward to continuing to share our passion for inane food minutiae, and we hope you'll join us as we continue to grow! But where did it all begin? Glad you asked!
- Dan Pashman and Mark Garrison first met while working on The Bryant Park Project, a short-lived but much-beloved show on NPR. Mark was a newscaster and Dan was a producer and regular on-air contributor, and they soon discovered that they thought more about food than most normal people. In January 2010, a year-and-a-half after the end of the BPP, The Sporkful was born. But what exactly is The Sporkful? What an excellent question!
- The Sporkful is a podcast and blog about food, where "we discuss, debate and obsess over the most ridiculous food-related minutiae, always seeking new and better ways to eat.™" "We challenge your assumptions about consumption™" and "drop a sporkful of knowledge on you™", because "we're obsessively compulsive about eating more awesomely™", and "because if history has taught us anything, it's that the hosts of food shows need a lot of catch phrases™". That's why we like to say that The Sporkful is "where sacred cows get grilled™," and that our mission is to "eat more, eat better, and eat more better™." So what's the big plan for all this? You are such an attentive reader, that is truly an insightful inquiry!
- This is all done in pursuit of a singular vision: The dream that someday, our ranks will grow to the point that we can establish Sporkful University, motto: Ruminate, Masticate, Promulgate. Please join us in that noble effort. Back to the home page...
